A professor and good friend of mine once told me that if he ever ran a country he would set it to a two party democratic system, much like America. When I asked him why he said "because when nothing changes, no one would be at fault."
Let me explain: lets say the country is split up into party A and party B. And whatever party A supports, party B opposes. Conversely, if party B were to back something party A would not. Such a thing would set up a continuous cycle. In this system, if the supporters of party A went to their representative complaining that there hadn't been any progress lately, all the representative would have to say is "Well we tried, but that dang party B..." This wold go on as long as the parties oppose each other.
Thus, our current problem. Finally, the U.S. had a dominate house and a president from the same party. Finally there was progress; and that dang party B swooped in and voted out the As. What's worse is that the new representatives have vowed to undo the little progress the Bs made, bringing us back to a mediocre existence.
If we are ever going to have change, if this country is going to succeed - and more over survive - we as a whole must learn to find a common ground. We have to stop being so hardheaded and stubborn. It shouldn't be too much to ask for some bipartisan politics.
